Hi folks,
So I’ve been trying to cut back on dairy and gluten because they don’t sit well with me, but I still crave pizza like crazy. Last weekend some friends wanted to grab a late-night slice, and I ended up just picking at fries because I didn’t know which places around Austin actually have decent vegan or gluten-free options. Has anyone here found a spot that balances both, where it doesn’t taste like cardboard?

I get that struggle — my sister’s celiac and I’m vegan, so finding a place where we can both eat is a mini victory. One thing we noticed is a lot of Austin pizza shops have caught on to this and offer a separate gluten-free crust that’s surprisingly good, plus dairy-free cheese that doesn’t melt into weird rubber. If you’re still scouting around, this guide on best pizza places in austin really helped us pick out a couple of solid spots. The nice thing is they cover both the classic slices and the more inclusive options, so you don’t feel left out when everyone else is enjoying their pizza.

What I’ve noticed about food in Austin is how quickly menus change with the season — one week you’ll find a new topping combo everywhere, and the next it’s gone. Some places experiment with local produce, which makes the dining scene feel fresh all the time. Even if you go back to the same spot twice in a month, chances are the specials will be totally different, so it keeps things exciting.
