Hi folks,
I’ve recently inherited a couple of antique dressers and a grandfather clock from my grandmother’s estate, and I need to move them from Texas to Oregon. These pieces are really sentimental to me, and I’m nervous about getting them damaged on the way. I know there are tons of services out there that ship furniture, but I’ve heard horror stories about broken legs, scratches, or even stuff getting lost. I’m not sure what to prioritize—insurance, packing, the actual shipping method? Would love to hear from anyone who’s gone through this with delicate or antique furniture.

Yeah, I’ve been down that road when I helped my dad move his vintage library cabinet across state lines. The hardest part was making sure the company understood the value—not just money-wise, but emotionally too. We had to ask a lot of questions about crating, climate control, and even how they load and unload. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend checking out these simple solutions that helped us make sense of how to ship furniture properly. It breaks things down pretty well, especially for those dealing with antiques.
